This house believes that maids are better than mothers.
For everyone's information, Hui Ying, Joseph, Kristian and Xue Xian are participating in a National Debating competition next Wednesday. We are competing against Nanyang Primary on the first round. If we succeed, we will go on to the second round on the same day. We are in the midst of our preparation and I hope you can give them your strong support and encouragement.
The motion for the second debate is as above. We will be the opposition, so we will be opposing the motion. We need you to be the devil's advocate and give comments on why you agree with the motion and why maids are better than mothers.
Post your comments as early as possible. This topic will only last for a week before we get to the next one. There will be one winner for the person who gives us a strong point in supporting the motion.

Ok so Mdm Suriani,
is there anything I can do to help with the debate?
I just hope we'll be able to enter the second round as I can see all the people you've selected are practically prodigies.
A devate is basically like an argumkent right? So there's always an opposition party, I guess.
Oh so we're the opposition party!
Well let's see so mwe'll have to be the opposite right?
Mothers are definetely better than maids as they were the ones that brought you up since young and do you have any idea how magnanimous they are?
They provide you with your essentials and were the ones who bore the pain for the sake of you.
All this while, they've been doing whatever they could for you.
Have you ever thought how much time they actually sacrifice for you?
We were always in their perspectives and we never fail to worry them because they care for us.
No matter what, mothers are always than maids even though they may seem obsessed with their careers sometimes.
But as the saying goes, "There's always a reason behind everything".
And the reason is practically that you never know what they are keeping from you.
Perhaps they may be the Vice-President of a company and as such their schedule is really tight.
But why are they even sacrificing their time? They could've just stayed at home and do nothing for you.
But they want to build a better future for you! So that when you enter university, you need not worry about financial problems as money would always be in abundance.
Adults have certain things that most of us kids wouldn't really understand.
Take for example, my mother.
Even though she might seem really infatuated with her career, I know it's because of me and my siblings.
But we know she cares because not once have she ever forgotten to ring us and shower us with concern.
Maids are somewhat like a temporary carer.
Once their contract expires, they will just go home and probably forget everything about you.
But what about mothers?
Do they abandon you after you grow up? Do they say stuffs like we're stupid and dump us in some rubbish chute? Will they stop loving you?
No, they will not!
Their love for their children is everlasting and also too amazing.
They could've just aborted us and save the burden of another child making them suffer, but they didn't want to because we are their precious child.

Mothers do work alot and would not see their children often and thats the reason why they are hiring maid. Maids take care and see the children more often so maids are better than mothers. When mothers do alot of work, they will tend to get angry, but maids dont dare.
Well mothers are the ones hu giv birth to us, but maids dun. They dun have a blood connection:D.Well soetimes becos of work mothers will tend to have fewer concern on children, but in thier heart the still love us
hello! I am shirui. wish all of you the best in the debating competition and hope fengshan pri school can go into the second round....we are the opposition party right. Mothers are better than maids even though we have only one mother because they are willing to sacrifice anything to help us to complete our studies and lot of things. we don't even know how much they had done of us. There are a lot of things that we can able to tell, to oppose the fact that maid is better than mother, but we can't possible name it because it is too much for us to count. so even though you mother scold you or even beat you, it is for good.
And the last thing I wanted to say is some mothers maybe inhuman because of money, they sell their child. but not all mothers are like that.

You choose people who r talkative yet smart at the same time.
Mothers are our only everlasting lovers as they are the one who suffered pain to give birth, right?
If they don't have love, why will they bother to give birth?
They can just abortion and live happily.
Mothers want to mould a person who will help and care 4 them in needs of trouble.
Mothers want a person 2 confide in.
So, we have a wrong perception of their love.
Do u know they help in both ways u know and don't know?
U go tuition and grumble, but actually parents are the one 2 bore the sake of paying the sum of money, whether it is $35 or $200?
U hate parents tellings, do u know they want to instill the fact of being a good person?
Take my mum, for instance.
Do u know my mum didn't scold or cane foor my results?
She provided me with encouragement.
Maids are only the duplicate mums, u know.
They seem 2 care 4 u, but they don't.
You politely ask 4 something, they seem 2 smile, but they grumble like as if we are the orderer.
And if their work contract finish, they will just say goodbye and go.
My mum, didn't hire a maid, bcos she is free.
I know 1 time, after coming back to S'pore from India, my mum suffered from leg heating and cannot even afford 2 walk?

Time 4 brainstorming!!WELL,MAIDS CAN NEVER BE BETTER THAN MOTHERS!Mothers have a very strong bond with their children as they are the one who give birth to them.Mothers take care of their children with all their heart and soul.They have brought us up since young and made plenty of sacrifices juz 4 us.When u were a little baby, mothers have 2 change our nappy and sacrifice their sleep 2 feed us. Of course, mothers are better than maids. They give birth to us, while maids don't. And what about the PAIN they suffered when giving birth to us? Some of our mothers feed us with milk, but maids don't. Our mothers do take care of us, even those who hire maids because they are busy working. No matter how busy your mother is, they always try to find time with you, play with you, help you with difficulties in school or in your homework. They also sacrifice a lot for us, too many that when you try to count it is uncountable as we are their flesh and blood.
Your maids take care of you too, but unlike your mother, they don't have a strong bond with you and they don't give birth to you. And because of that, when you get injured or somthing, they don't feel as much pain as your mother feels.
Our mothers never stop loving us too. Even when they scold or even beat us, it is for our own good. They don't scold or beat us whenever they want to too. They only scold when we do something wrong, and beat us only when we do something wrong that cannot be forgave.
So that's all i've got to say tonight.

Talking about maids, I don't have a maid before so I don't know what's the feeling of having a maid.My cousin has a maid so I only know a bit about maids.
I would rather have my mother then a maid.The maid is not the one who gave birth to us.They are just working for money to support their family.Usually the maids are from overseas(that means they are not educated in singapore) so that is why they have no choice but to be a maid.
Our mother who had gave birth to us had a terrible time when we come out from our mother and taking care for us.For some mothers, they are housewives .So, they can take care of their babies.
However just like me,some mothers is working so they have to take MC( or whatever I don't know how to call that)to take care of us.
If it was not the maid's baby, why would she care about it.It's just because it's their work to do it. They can choose to take care of them or not.When the mothers' give birth,they have to take care of them forever and ever.The maids do not need to.

Mothers are definitely better than maids of course! They are the ones who gave birth us to this place called thw world! Without them, we wouldn't be here. We wouldn't even exist in this world without them. They are our own blood and flesh so definitely they're better than maids! Maids are just someone your parents employ to take care their children because they are busy. Maids are not your own blood and flesh and they were not the ones who brought you up.
Your mothers are always there for you and they need to take care of the family, cook for the family, manage the household, buy groceries, tidy up the mess that you made and muchmuchmuchmuchmuchmuch more things! So, if your mother is busy with their work and employs a maid to take care of you, you must understand that they are just busy with their work but no matter what, they'll still love you. Eventhough your maid cooks for you everyday, feed you, cleans the house and much more things, your mother is still your mother. You can't change the fact that your mother isn't your mother. They had given birth and it's not easy. It must be really painful so we must appreciate what our mothers have been doing for us ;DDD

They help us with our homework and even take care of us from baby until now. The maids? they did not even do it! Mothers encourage us in our studies but not maids. Our mother is the one who gave birth to us not maids. Also it is very very wrong to say maids are better than mother. Think about how long we had stayed in our own mother's womb.

Actually, i dun have a maid now since 2004, so i've kind of forgotten how it feels like to have a maid, but i just tell u all i've remembered. Mothers are defenitely better than maids. Your mother gave birth to u, not the maids, so when u get injured or something bad happened to u, your mother feels a lot more pain than maids do. Maid are just maids, but mothers aren't. They give birth to u, and u noe the long period of 9 months, when they have to take extra care not to knock into something so as not to gat a miscarriage, but why do they do that? It's obvious that they want u as their child and play with u, suffer through difficulties with u, and do all sorts of fun thing with u.
So there's absolutely NO way that u say ur mother doesn't love u, just becos they dun ask u how u r doing in sch, or wadever u feel their love is missing. It is becos they are too busy in work, and if ur mother is a housewife, it may be becos there is too much housework to be done.
Remember, it's not just becos they dun ask how u do that they dun care about u, they are too busy. And why do u think they are busy? Just becos they want to work to build a better future for us and provide us wif our needs. On the other hand, u can try to spent time wif ur mother too.
And it's becos of the same reason( they are far too busy to look after u) that they hire a maid. Maids just take care of u becos it is their job, and they get paid for it. With the money they earn, they used it to support their families too, right???
Hi I am Yan Lin, I think that some children who have a maid can learn a lot from them as they spend a lot of time with their maids. Some even learn to speak other languages. But mothers who are working do not spend as much time with them. So I think that we should ask our mother to spend more time with us.
Maids are better than mothers because....
-They are hardworking and they often do their best.
-When I need their attention, they will always be there to help you, no matter what you need, what you want, or even what you feel upset and want someone to ralk to, they will listen to you and do what they can do to help you.
